New Album Pre-Sale & Crowdfunding!

We…. Sun God Replica love our first two albums, our primal “Primitive Clockwork” and our second, what they call the difficult sophomore “The Devil and the Deep”. But it wasn’t that difficult, it was actually just a natural step for us. We have not only found new fans here in Australia but further afield…from Spain to UK and France with our first two recordings.

Not to mention we got to tour at least some of these places last year. A run of shows with The Muffs made the tour all the more amazing. We even had a vinyl released on ‘Grabaciones de Impacto’ last year. A fantastic compalation “Devil’s Clockwork” that combined tunes from our first two discs. These have been the foundation on which we have built our latest album “Grandular Fever” which is slated for release on Beast Records (France) and Spooky Records (Australia). And we’re really excited about this.

As Link commented. “I could wax lyrical about this LP, using colorful metaphors, flowery language and superlatives but that’s just annoying, pretentious and desperate so I’ll just keep it simple. Countless days have been dedicated to the new record by team Sun God…..Myself, Lance, Lochie and producer / engineer Loki Lockwood. We spent hours to write, record and mix the perfect SGR album and we believe it shows. Going over each song with a fine toothed comb, we brushed, cleaned and combed again every song, then brushed them all just that little bit more. If there was a God, even that fool would admit that perfection is impossible (just look at a mole rat) but it doesn’t hurt to try.

So anyway…we’d like to get this LP Pressed to Vinyl and onto your turntable for your listening pleasure. In order to do this we’d like to ask for your assistance…Thanks for listening in advance”. Love SGR. X Click here to get involved!!!

Big Cherry Bar Show!

Having just returned from shows in the UK and an extensive tour of Spain that included a slot on Primavera Sound in Barcelona, SUN GOD REPLICA are truly at the top of their game with their return show at The Gaso last week being one of their best yet. Good things happened to the band whilst abroad and plans to go back are well and truly in the pipeline. And they’ve come back refreshed and raring to go.

Plenty of chances in the coming weeks to see SUN GOD REPLICA for yourself (for eg July 3 Post Office Hotel, July 4 Tote) but the pick of the litter has to be this little gem at Cherry Bar on Friday 17th July. SUN GOD REPLICA headline a ripper of a line up alongside POWERLINE SNEAKERS, featuring members of Splatterheads, Powdermonkeys, Bored!, Ripe and Guttersnipes with their first show for the year and THE EMPTIES, featuring members of Japesquad and Seaweed Goorillas, launching their self titled debut album on this particular evening.

Three pretty good reasons to head to Cherry on Friday 17 July. Add to that the free shot of Jager you get upon entry and the fact that it’s Cherry Bar, the greatest rock ‘n roll bar in the southern hemisphere, if not the world!

FRIDAY JULY 17 – Cherry Bar, AC/DC Lane, Melbourne

European Tour Going Away Party

Next Monday May 11 sees SUN GOD REPLICA throw a wee party at the Public Bar, it doubling as a going away gig and as a wee fundraiser. Beers don’t buy themselves after all. Helping out next Monday is Melbourne’s newest supergroup PALEHEADS featuring members of The Drones, The Nation Blue, Harmony and Batpiss.

Tickets are only $8 and available at the door only. Come and say ciao to SUN GOD REPLICA, wish them all the best and help them buy some extra rider abroad.

New Video!

Check out our new video for ‘Devil In The Deep’! Now whilst this may not be as good as your karaoke handjobs or animals that need to sleep videos you should definitely check it oot.

Like The Sun Gods Of Old But Remade In Plastic

Sun God Replica have the pedigree of the talented Linsay McLennan taking up the role of chief songwriter, singer and guitar shredder. You might know him better as Link Meanie. Singer of the iconic Meanies. So now’s who’s in this lineup you may ask? Lochie Cavigan, he played on the last 2 Bakelite Age records with Link. Lochie is now classified as Links main wingman. Loch kills it on drums and rips out a great backing vocal at the same time. Then the killer balls to the floor bassman Lance Swagger rounds out Sun God Replica’s sound beautifully.

Sun God Replica’s first album Primitive Clockwork was a vinyl / digital affair only and its now rare as and still kicks arse. The new record is called “The Devil and the Deep” This time the boys had More Time, More Songs to choose from and a nice proper studio. The Legendary Atlantis Studio in Port Melbourne. The advantage of 2 inch tape and great microphones and with that crazy mother fu*ker Loki Lockwood at the helm they have produced a sonic ride that represents Link “SnackPack” Meanie at his best.

It’s no wonder that this is already one of the most anticipated releases that will drop early 2014.
